The Carcinoid Cancer Foundation    Return to MNYCSG Home Page

The Carcinoid Cancer Foundation began as the Carcinoid Tumor & Serotonin Research Foundation in 1968. The name was changed to the Carcinoid Cancer Foundation, Inc. in 1995. It is a nonprofit organization chartered by the State of New York for the purpose of encouraging and supporting research and education on carcinoid tumors and related neuro-endocrine neoplasms.

Currently the Foundation devotes 50% of its funds to research. There are three staff members who assist with raw data input and research projects. The Foundation participates in research studies done by other institutions as well as implementing its own research projects. Findings from research projects the Foundation initiates or participates in; result in reports which are presented at conferences and/or published in peer review journals.

The remaining funds the Foundation receives are divided up between education and administration. 35% of the funds are used to educate medical professionals, patients and the general public. The remaining 15% of the funds received are used for administrative needs.
